In 1997, Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen created Apex Learning to deliver online Advanced Placement courses to students in rural areas. His vision would grow to include a comprehensive catalog of Courses and Tutorials for students in grades 6–12. In 2021, Apex joined the Edmentum family, expanding our reach to bring high-quality digital curriculum and flexible virtual learning to millions of students and families worldwide.

Our mission is to help students achieve their academic potential by delivering high-quality online education with flexible scheduling options. ALVS empowers students to control when, where and how fast they progress through their courses.

Apex Learning Virtual School
ALVS is a fully accredited, private online school for students in grades 6–12. We provide students with flexible learning options taught by experienced, certified teachers. Our comprehensive catalog offers part-time courses as well as a full-time, diploma-granting virtual school.
Our dedicated ALVS teachers provide students with personal support and individualized feedback. On average, ALVS teachers have 19 years of experience, including eight years teaching online.
Our student body includes learners from around the world with a variety of interests. They collaborate and learn in a dynamic online environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking and personal growth.
